About this data

Our dashboard helps you understand and compare how quickly expectant mothers can access EmOC in different regions.

The dashboard uses Google's internal directions API — the same API that powers navigation in Google Maps — to estimate a range of metrics, including the average travel time to nearest, second nearest, and third nearest EmOC facilities for different regions.

The dashboard covers both public and private EmOC facilities in partner countries. EmOC facilities, defined as any health facility that can provide a cesarean section, were verified by the OnTIME Consortium.

If you'd like to know more about the data we used and how we generated the metrics for the dashboard, see our technical documentation.

This dashboard was developed in partnership with the OnTIME Consortium.

Who can this dashboard help
We created this dashboard to help public health officials and researchers identify areas where there's opportunity to increase access to EmOC, deploy interventions, and broadly research these issues.
How best to use this dashboard
Compare one region with others to see where the needs and opportunities are. The dashboard is intended for population-level planning purposes and should not be used to make individual decisions regarding care.
Give us feedback
We'd love to hear about your project and learn more about your case studies. We'd also appreciate your feedback on the dashboard and documentation. Please email us at emergency-obstetric-care-feedback@google.com .
